Mi mente escéptica se niega a pensar lo que A. Einstein ya profetizó a principios del pasado siglo, la tecnología está consumiéndonos. No es un error gramatical, no me he equivocado escribiendo, nosotros no utilizamos tecnología, nos vemos “obligados”. Escribo esto porque llevo ya varias semanas pensándolo. Siempre ocurre en el mismo momento, o al menos siempre lo pienso por las mañanas cuando voy camino de la oficina. Gente con sus móviles, tablets, consolas portátiles y cualquier otro elemento que ofrezca entretenimiento digital. Todos jugando a juegos estúpidos de colores que –dicen- sirven para despertar y desarrollar la lógica y la velocidad mental.
Y yo pienso, ¿dónde quedan los libros en todo esto? ¿Acaso no se ha enseñado que los libros, más allá de la imaginación y creatividad, son una herramienta muy poderosa para el aprendizaje, la corrección ortográfica? Y ahora sí, fantasía. Por cada cinco consumidos que veo en metro/autobús cada mañana, solo encuentro un soñador. Está claro que nadie puede empezar leyendo a Cervantes o Nietzsche, no pueden coger la Apología de Sócrates y pretender entenderlo todo sin más. Pero para cada persona existe un estilo, un escritor, un personaje. Coged libros, descargad ebooks, leed miles hasta encontrar el que os atrae de verdad y os aseguro que vuestra mente se desarrollará más que con esos famosos videojuegos, que lo único que consiguen es gastar baterías a las consolas.

It is not a grammatical mistake, I didn’t spell it wrong, we don’t use technology, we are “required” instead. I write this today because I’ve been several weeks thinking about it. It always happen in the same moment, or at least I always think of it during the mornings, on my way to the office. People with cell phones, tablets, portable videogames, or anything that can store digital entertainment. Everyone playing stupid colorful games that –they say- help them to keep a sharp mind, develop the logic and mental pace.
And I consider, where did we leave the books? Isn’t it said that, above imagination and creativity, books are powerful tools for learning, for spelling correction? And moreover, fantasy. For each five consumed I see in subway or bus each morning, I can just find one dreamer. Surely, no one can start reading Cervantes or Nietzsche, they shouldn’t pick Apology and want to understand it all. However, for everyone there is a book, a style, a writer, a character. Take and buy books, share them, download ebooks from the Internet, read thousands of them to find out which one you like the most and your mind, I can assure, will develop, grow up faster and stronger than with those well-known videogames, that all they can do is decreasing the life of our “toys”.
